aBOUT SANI

Hassani "Sani" Scott is an educator, artist, and storyteller.

She was raised in Los Angeles at the home-based daycare her mother established in 1997 and has been engaged in the performing arts since age five. She takes deep pride in learning how to serve children and families under her mother’s tutelage. Sani graduated from Brown University in 2017 and has participated in various research fellowships and theater productions that allowed her to explore psychological phenomena and universal truths that impact the human spirit and experience. She has taught children ages 2-18 in Los Angeles independent schools and learning spaces, worked in K-12 admissions, and remains an advocate for teaching the truth to children in a way that preserves hope and inspires imaginations -- whether it's on a screen, stage or in person.

Sani finds herself most at home when creating, curating, or contributing to transformational (never transactional!) learning opportunities for children, families, and multigenerational communities.

Spirit Mamas

Created, written, and hosted by Hassani Scott, or Sani the Storyteacher, (Executive produced by Encantos Media), Spirit Mamas is a creative children’s project (ages 5 and up) that honors the lives and lessons learned by eight of Sani’s spiritual mother figures, including Nina Simone, Biddy Mason, and Ella Baker.

Through immersive, biographical storytelling, Spirit Mamas empowers future generations to shine their own light in ways that feel most authentic to them. Children will learn who these women were and how they made a mark on the world, and will also be inspired to build their own tremendous legacies!
